Stuff the Bus Food Drive a Lynden v Meridian Contest

The bus garages at both Lynden Schools and the Meridian School District engaged in a competition. It was an event without a loser, as the Stuff the Bus event was a food drive to support local food banks in both districts.

The first-ever food drive led by the Lynden Schools transportation department came about after the Meridian transportation department challenged them to a one-week Stuff the Bus contest. Each bus garage could employ the help of district schools and Lynden’s Bernice Vossbeck and Isom elementaries hopped on the opportunity (the other Lynden buildings were either already engaged in a food drive or had one planned).

“The contest itself was really between the bus garages,” says Shane Stanfill, Lynden Schools transportation director. “Our garage and their garage weighed the items for bragging rights.”

While the final weighing is still ongoing at Meridian, Stanfill admits Meridian appears to have the edge in the victory. Either way, all the food donated through Lynden bus drivers, transportation staff and both Bernice Vossbeck and Isom elementary schools will benefit Lynden’s Project Hope Food Bank.
