Special Election Update

Lynden Families & Staff:

As you are aware, two school funding initiatives were placed on the ballot for consideration by voters. As of the first ballot counts, it appears that our Educational and Operations Levy is likely to pass, but that the Capital Facilities Bond may not reach enough votes for approval. 

We are extremely grateful to the community for voting to replace the EP&O levy, as this currently funds 14% of our operating budget. This will allow us to continue the level of service to students that our community has come to expect from us. 

While I had hoped to see both measures pass, I remain very pleased with the community’s level of engagement in understanding our facility needs and what it will take to address them. It is a challenging time for school construction funding but I’m confident that the citizens of Lynden will work together to find a path we can all get behind.  Our staff and board directors will be working over the next few months to outline next steps. The district is committed to a continued partnership with the Lynden community! There is important work to be done to ensure safe and quality learning environments for all students.
