Lynden Celebrating Bike to School Day Differently

May 6 was scheduled as Bike to School Day. While students may not be able to congregate at school buildings, Lynden physical education teacher Shirley Lee encourages students to still use this time to focus on safety, fun and community connection.

With that, the elementary school physical education teachers encourage students to get outside on Monday, May 4, and decorate sidewalks with chalk or color a lion paw print that was sent to them and place it in their window. Then, on Tuesday, May 5, the teachers encourage students to perform a bike safety and helmet fit check. Come Wednesday, May 6, the students can then get outside for a walk or bike ride with their family, maybe hunting for chalk art of paw prints in windows.

“Be on the lookout for your PE teachers who also love to ride bikes,” Lee says.
