Isom’s Character Strong focus for February is cooperation. Wednesday provided a real-life cooperation opportunity during a morning power outage. District facilities staff jumped into action with Puget Sound Energy and a local machinery company to get lights and furnaces running, as district office personnel communicated with families until phones and internet were restored. In preparation for students, staff cooperated to get battery operated lights into dark spaces, and kids were welcomed to an adventurous morning with flashlight escorts. Many parents volunteered to help crowd control, with some bringing blankets and more lights. It’s a cooperative day that won’t soon be forgotten.
