Referral Process
Please give us a call if you have questions or concerns on how your child is developing with their speech, fine motor skills or any other concerns you may have.
- If you are interested in having your child screened to determine whether they may qualify for special education services, please follow the steps below:
- Initial Contact: Contact Stephanie Winter at 360-354-4443, ext. 3426, or by email at winters@lynden.wednet.edu to begin the process.
- Screening Questionnaires: Screening questionnaires will be mailed to you to complete and return to our office.
- Review of Screeners: Once the completed screeners are returned, they will be scored and reviewed. You will then be contacted to schedule an intake meeting.
- Intake Meeting: You and your child will meet with our team, including our School Psychologist, Kelly Lam-Scholten, to discuss your child’s development, strengths, and any areas of concern.
- Evaluation Determination: Following the intake meeting, the team will determine whether your child needs a formal evaluation. If an evaluation is recommended, a separate appointment will be scheduled.
- MDT/IEP Meeting: Once the evaluation is completed, an additional meeting will be scheduled with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to review the results and determine whether your child qualifies for special education services.
- Eligibility and Services: During the MDT meeting, the team will explain the evaluation results and let you know whether your child qualifies for services. If your child qualifies, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) will be developed to outline the services and support your child will receive.
- Please Note: The screening, intake meeting, evaluation, and MDT/IEP meeting are separate steps in the process and may require appointments on different dates.
- We look forward to working with you and your child! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
