Before the challenge of winter weather hit Bernice Vossbeck Elementary, students in grades two through five participated in a friendly keyboarding challenge with Kym VanMersbergen, the school’s technology coach.
Students practiced their words-per-minute and accuracy skills while VanMersbergen tracked the progress, and each grade had a leaderboard based on the combination of their accuracy score and their words-per-minute score.
“The students enjoyed seeing their scores improve and the feeling of accomplishment that came with it,” she says. “I am so proud of how hard our students worked on improving their keyboarding skills. Typing is a life skill that will serve them for years to come. BVE has some incredible typists with bright futures.”
