Superintendent Jim Frey: To Our Graduates

Superintendent Jim Frey: To Our Graduates
Posted on 06/11/2020

Each year in my speech at graduation, I say something very similar, and it is with even greater emphasis this year. We are proud of you. We love you and care for each of you very much. You are ready to assume your place in the community and the world and lead into the future. We are counting on you to give back and continue the commitment to service that is ingrained in the fabric of the Lynden community. Your persistence, determination and resilience in the face of very challenging circumstances is the key to your success now and for what lies ahead.

For the Class of 2020 specifically, who were ready to receive the public accolades and recognition of accomplishment in a traditional graduation ceremony, I know there is significant disappointment as you will not be receiving your diploma in front of family members and friends as planned. My heart goes out to each of you for having missed your time in the spotlight as Lynden High School and Lynden Academy graduates. I know that down the road you will be able to look back at this time and recognize all that you have accomplished throughout your time in school, and that the school closure due to Covid-19 will not define your experiences as students in the Lynden School District.

As individuals and as a group, you have so much to be proud of and as graduates you possess the mindset, knowledge and skills necessary to make the Lynden community and our society a better place. The past 13 years has shaped you into young adults ready for college, career and life. All your hard work has paid off.

On behalf of the Lynden School District Board of Directors and the tremendous Lynden School District staff, it is my privilege to bestow on you the honor and accomplishment of earning your Lynden High School and Lynden Academy graduation diplomas.

Congratulations Class of 2020!
