While Lynden High School’s performing arts program is known for its spring musicals, the fall provides plenty of drama for both the performers and audience.

The performing arts students will run four performances of Anne of Green Gables on Nov. 7, 9 and 10.

The adaption by Joseph Robinette creates a new dramatization to “capture the charm and excitement of L.M. Montgomery’s enduring classic about an orphan girl, Anne Shirley, from her first encounter with her austere guardian to her thrilling graduation from Queen’s Academy.”

The play aims to faithfully recreate the memorable events and characters from the novel while including the tragedies and triumphs that mark Anne’s growth from adolescence to early adulthood.

The performances are set for Judson Hall at the Main Street Campus at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7; 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9; and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10. Tickets are general admission seating, available at the door. Only cash is accepted. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and free for children age 5 and under.

Tina Miller is directing the Lynden students, while Kim Silva is leading costumes, Ashlie Blaske choreography and Bob Miller set design.
