Lynden High School teacher Stacey Anderson was named the annual Masonic Lodge Educator of the Year for Lynden Schools, with a ceremonial presentation occurring at the Lynden School District board meeting on June 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cStacey is an amazing example of the impact an educator can have across so many areas,\u201d says Ian Freeman, Lynden High School principal. \u201cWhile many students know her as their freshman health teacher, her contributions go far beyond the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Anderson\u2019s career at Lynden, which began in 1998 as a home economics teacher at LHS, she has taught health, child development, AVID, careers in education, credit recovery and more and served stints at Lynden Middle School and Fisher Elementary. At LHS, Anderson has supported a cohort of AVID students, launched a Careers in Education program, advocated for the Multicultural Club and multilingual learners, designed and led a credit recovery program for students and served as a steady support for colleagues navigating personal challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
David VanderYacht, superintendent, says that Stacey is a champion for all students and works tirelessly to create positive opportunities, particularly for multilingual and marginalized students. \u201cStacey has been instrumental this year in supporting the families, friends and students associated with the passing of beloved Lynden educators during this past school year,\u201d he says, \u201cand coming alongside other LHS colleagues and friends during difficult life events.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The title comes with a $1,500 award and Anderson\u2019s name will be added to the plaque displayed by the district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
