The Lynden High School teacher is now helping other students find their passions, using hands-on education to give students a real sense of what they can accomplish.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It isn\u2019t just the classes that Brandvold teaches at Lynden High School\u2014those range from animal and plant biotechnology to metal art to horticulture science\u2014it is the relationships that she forms both as a teacher and FFA advisor that excite Brandvold about her role at LHS.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI appreciate the students I get to connect with and the relationships that are built, especially those in FFA,\u201d she says. \u201cI found my purpose and passion in this organization and love when I get to help students grow and hopefully find their passions as well.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a teacher who also runs the school greenhouse and serves as an FFA advisor for the Lynden FFA Chapter, Brandvold says she loves that all the courses she teaches are heavily hands-on. That allows students to use their skills and knowledge daily.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Getting to Know Tammy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living in Lynden with her husband Jake and their three boys, Leo, Oliver and Calvin, the family has no shortage of opportunities to stay connected to the Lynden community through their many activities. \u201cI grew up in Lynden and love to continue building relationships formed long ago,\u201d she says, \u201cas well as the new ones I have built through our school and through the agriculture community.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is part of the Lynden Schools Staff Spotlight series Tammy Brandvold found a personal purpose and passion when she discovered FFA (Future Farmers of America).
