LHS Social Studies Curriculum Adoption
Hello Lynden SD families. Over the past two academic years, Lynden High School Social Studies teachers, along with Principal Ian Freeman, have been engaged in selecting new curricular resources for use beginning this Fall.
The team reviewed and piloted materials from four different publishers and have selected Teachers’ Curriculum Institute (TCI) as their top choice. Here are the recommended Social Studies titles by grade level:
- Grade 9: Geography Alive! Regions and People
- Grade 10: History Alive! World Connections
- Grade 11: History Alive! Pursuing American Ideals
- Grade 12: Government Alive! Power, Politics, and You
We value your feedback on the new resources! Materials for all four texts will be available for community review May 5-9 in the Teaching and Learning space at the district office, located at 516 Main Street. Teaching and Learning staff will be available 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
After review and recommendation by Lynden School District’s Instructional Materials Committee, the curriculum will be presented to the Lynden School Board for approval.
