{"id":49,"date":"2022-07-27T15:07:21","date_gmt":"2022-07-27T15:07:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lynden.wednet.edu\/lynden-inclusive-preschool\/?page_id=49"},"modified":"2026-10-16T15:15:02","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T15:15:02","slug":"referral-process","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lynden.wednet.edu\/lynden-inclusive-preschool\/our-school\/referral-process\/","title":{"rendered":"Referral Process"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Please give us a call if you have questions or concerns on how your child is developing with their speech, fine motor skills or any other concerns you may have.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you are interested in having your child screened to determine whether they may qualify for special education services, please follow the steps below:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Initial Contact:<\/strong> Contact Stephanie Winter at <strong>360-354-4443, ext. 3426<\/strong>, or by email at <a href=\"mailto:winters@lynden.wednet.edu\"><strong>winters@lynden.wednet.edu<\/strong><\/a> to begin the process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Screening Questionnaires:<\/strong> Screening questionnaires will be mailed to you to complete and return to our office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review of Screeners:<\/strong> Once the completed screeners are returned, they will be scored and reviewed. You will then be contacted to schedule an intake meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Intake Meeting:<\/strong> You and your child will meet with our team, including our School Psychologist, <strong>Kelly Lam-Scholten<\/strong>, to discuss your child&#8217;s development, strengths, and any areas of concern.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evaluation Determination:<\/strong> Following the intake meeting, the team will determine whether your child needs a formal evaluation. If an evaluation is recommended, a separate appointment will be scheduled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>MDT\/IEP Meeting:<\/strong> Once the evaluation is completed, an additional meeting will be scheduled with the <strong>Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)<\/strong> to review the results and determine whether your child qualifies for special education services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility and Services:<\/strong> During the MDT meeting, the team will explain the evaluation results and let you know whether your child qualifies for services. If your child qualifies, an <strong>Individualized Education Program (IEP)<\/strong> will be developed to outline the services and support your child will receive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Please Note:<\/strong> The screening, intake meeting, evaluation, and MDT\/IEP meeting are separate steps in the process and may require appointments on different dates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We look forward to working with you and your child!
