In the resolution, the board wrote than an understanding of the country\u2019s history provides \u201cvaluable insight\u201d for Lynden students as they understand \u201cour unique American journey through the nation\u2019s struggles and triumphs,\u201d while helping plant seeds of patriotism and pride, appreciation of the founding ideals and democratic principles of the nation and the stories of generations of immigrants journeying to the U.S. seeking freedom, opportunity and safety through hard work, service, innovation and civic participation. The board specifically recognized the sacrifices made by veterans and their families, using their service to \u201cremind us to be grateful for the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Lynden School District invites all of us to reflect on our nation\u2019s history and honor those who have served and those who continue to serve,\u201d the board wrote in a statement. \u201cTogether, we can build a spirit of unity, acceptance, gratitude and resilience in our schools, our communities and for generations to come.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To partner with the community, each Lynden school plans an assembly with a special invitation to local veterans and current servicemembers to attend (visitors are required to check in with the main office upon arrival).
