And she\u2019s part of the equation, teaching all three of the school\u2019s grades real-life scenarios.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every student in sixth, seventh and eighth grade at Lynden Middle School takes a trimester of health each year. Ohligschlager is there to teach them. \u201cI love teaching middle school students, so they are what make me appreciate my position most,\u201d she says. \u201cThey are so fun.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohligschlager says the staff at LMS also makes the school a connected place, with support from staff and administration to help the teachers work together to connect with the everyday challenges of relating with students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI really enjoy the content of what I teach because I believe it helps the students develop real-life skills,\u201d she says, \u201cthat will help them as they leave here and move forward in life.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Getting to Know Amy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ohligschlager has been a health teacher at Lynden for seven years (she taught physical education prior to taking the health position at LMS), but she remains connected to the community in so many ways. She\u2019s currently coaching track and field at LMS and has loved attending Lynden sporting events. She once spent time watching her three sons participate and \u201cnow I get to watch students or former students compete.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is also involved with the local community through North County Christ the King Church where she\u2019s able to feel a great connection to the students and staff she sees there. Ohligschlager also enjoys spending time with family and being outdoors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve lived in Lynden all but seven years of my life,\u201d she says, \u201cit is an awesome community, and I am thankful to be a part of it.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This post is part of the Lynden Schools Staff Spotlight series Amy Ohligschlager loves the connected environment throughout Lynden Middle School.
