School Construction Update – October 27, 2017

Fisher Elementary School
The final completion date for the new Fisher Elementary School is December 2017. Colacurcio Construction will have completed the additional four classrooms and turn the building entirely over to the school district prior to Christmas break.

In November the construction crew will:

• Open up the hallway to the additional 4 classrooms
• Complete the permanent stairway on the east end of the school
• Polish the concrete floors, install carpet, casework, and wall finishes
• Upgrade the old sewer system pumps to a new and better system 😊

In looking back on the work done to put together the new Fisher Elementary School there are more people to thank than I can include in a short communication. I do want to express how grateful we are of our community and the support provided to build this new school which will serve kids and the community for many years to come. We are certainly blessed.

Lynden Middle School
The Middle School is scheduled to be completed this spring. With the addition of 4 classrooms beyond the original project scope, the school is slated to be finished in June and ready in plenty of time for the opening of school in September 2018.

A couple of high lights on the project over the past few weeks:

• The exterior brick work and metal siding really gives you a feel for what the school will look like
• Many classrooms have the wall finishes complete and the drop celling is starting to go in
• Case work is slated to arrive for the first phase of classrooms by the first of November
• With finish work taking place in the classroom wings, framing and mechanical, electrical and plumbing have moved to the administration, cafeteria, gyms, and technology areas
• The covered play shed is receiving brick siding and
some of the landscaping structures are being formed (curved cement wall at the entrance, slabs for generator and garbage, etc.)

We still have a good bit of work to do before our June completion date, but it looks like we are a bit ahead of schedule and we are ready for the rainy season.
